Our work is rooted in science, built around native systems, and tailored to the specific needs of municipalities, conservancies, and private landowners. We deliver restoration projects that perform ecologically, meet regulatory requirements, and stay on schedule.
Ecological restoration rebuilds the natural functions that healthy landscapes provide—cleaner water, flood reduction, habitat improvement, and long-term resilience. Restored wetlands, prairies, and streams filter pollutants, slow stormwater, increase biodiversity, and help communities adapt to changing environmental conditions. Restoration also reduces maintenance, improves recreational value, and strengthens the overall health of local ecosystems.
Next Nature designs and implements nature-based solutions that restore streams, wetlands, floodplains, and native prairies. Our services include ecological design, environmental permitting, stormwater park development, construction oversight, and long-term monitoring. We work with municipalities, engineering firms, conservancies, and developers to deliver projects that are functional, durable, and rooted in native ecological systems.
The ideal planting window for native prairie restoration is late fall through early spring, when soil temperatures are cool and seeds naturally stratify over winter. This mimics the conditions native plants evolved with and leads to stronger germination in early spring. Prairie installations can also be seeded in summer using dormant seeding methods, though results are typically best when planted between November and May.
Next Nature is proudly based in Youngstown, Ohio, and provides ecological restoration services across Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indiana, and West Virginia. We frequently work with municipalities, conservancies, and engineering partners throughout Northeast Ohio and travel nationally for specialized ecological and permitting projects.
Our process is straightforward and transparent:
Site Evaluation – We assess existing conditions, hydrology, vegetation, and permitting pathways.
Concept Design – We develop a restoration concept rooted in native systems and project goals.
Permitting – We coordinate the required local, state, and federal approvals.
Final Design – We prepare construction-ready plans and specifications.
Construction Oversight – We ensure plans are built as designed and maintain ecological integrity.
Monitoring & Stewardship – We provide follow-up assessments, maintenance guidance, and ecological monitoring.
This approach results in projects that perform well, meet regulatory standards, and support long-term ecological health.
Next Nature brings specialized training in wetland, stream, and floodplain restoration combined with hands-on project experience across multiple states. Our team includes a licensed landscape architect, water resource specialists, and environmental practitioners trained in QHEI/HHEI, Rosgen stream morphology, and native ecosystem design. We pair scientific knowledge with practical on-the-ground implementation, ensuring that every project is both technically sound and ecologically successful.
