The Mahoning County YWCA partnered with Next Nature to restore a neglected area beside their facility through the creation of a butterfly garden. This initiative aligned with the organization’s focus on sustainability and environmental care while enhancing the visual appeal of the property.
Project Type: Pollinator and Native Habitat Restoration
Role: Design-Build
Scope: Design and Installation
Duration: 1 Month
Services: Site Evaluation · AutoCAD · Planting
Design & Process
The design featured native plants selected for their ecological value and visual vibrancy. Milkweed, coneflowers, and other native species were planted to attract butterflies, bees, and pollinators. Using AutoCAD design plans and on-site evaluation, Next Nature developed a layout that encouraged biodiversity and minimized maintenance requirements.
Results & Impact
Over time, the garden flourished with native blooms and visiting pollinators, becoming a small but vital sanctuary for local wildlife. The successful collaboration between Next Nature, the Mahoning County YWCA, and the Rotary Club of Youngstown’s Operation Pollination initiative demonstrated how community partnerships can promote conservation and inspire urban restoration efforts.
